Annual Charity Golf Tournament

June 15, 2017

Cardinal Golf Club, Newmarket

PTAO Charity Golf Tournament 2017

June 15, 2017 was a typical summer day this year, which unfortunately meant that it was very overcast and of course just as we were heading out to start our fun day on the golf course, it started to rain.  The rain did not let up and most teams were in the club house after five holes.  Cardinal Golf Club was great in handling the issue and worked hard to have our room set up early and did their best to have our dinner prepared early.   We would like to thank everyone who was able to come and participate in the golf and we would especially like to thank all our sponsors who helped make the day a great success.  Because of this support we were able to make a $2500.00 donation to the Rameses Shriners Hospital Building Fund.

A very special thank you goes out to the volunteers that helped make the day possible.  Thank you to Wallace  from Abrams Towing for taking all the pictures, Derek and Mandi from Abrams Towing and Jennifer from Barrie Towing for jumping in and helping at the registration desk so things ran smoothly.  Tina from CAA South Central Ontario who sat at the hole-in-one until she was waterlogged.

Thank you to Canadian Towing Equipment for again being brave enough to sponsor a hole-in-one.  Apparently they know the golfers in this group too well.

Also a thank you to Professional Dispatch Group for sponsoring the lunch to get us up and running.

Thank you to Towtal Roadside Solutions Inc. for sponsoring the golf carts so we could keep a little drier and get back to the clubhouse faster when the rain got too heavy to continue.

We did not have any winners as no one was able to finish 18 holes so we drew names for the prizes which made things interesting.

The 50/50 draw was won by Dwayne Frewin from Eagle Towing Equipment and he was kind enough to donate his winnings back to the charity.  The other half of the 50/50 when to the Association Benevolent Fund.

There was a draw for a small coke cooler that held 6 can of…..pop.  All you had to do was guess the amount of golf tees in the jar.  David Rawn from the Rameses Shriners was off by one number and was the winner.

All in all even though the weather did not co-operate I think everyone had a fun day, great time catching up with others, and wonderful food.

Hope to see everyone next year….and maybe even a few more of you.
